Greek shield in use in the 8th century BC from the characteristic oval shape with lateral notches, known as "Dipylon" from the name of an Athenian necropolis in which numerous representations of the same have been found.
The "Dipylon" probably derives from an older shield in the shape of an "8" in use during the Mycenaean age starting from the 15th century BC. and of which it would be the direct evolution.
Authentic copy of a Greek shield in original size. A very similar shield was worn by Brad Pitt in Achilles in the movie "Troy". Handmade in wood and covered in leather with boss and metal studs.
